SuperStores to SuperStars and Super Bowls to Super Ships, an impressive CV, as a rather unique English Photographer Wayne Paulo gears up for a change in direction! It was a wet and cold day in London England when Wayne photographed his first NFL game, it was the Chicago Bears v Dallas Cowboys 21 years ago! His pictures appeared in the football papers of the day, “Gridiron” magazine and the “First Down” newspaper.Wayne, who went onto become the top photographer in NFL Europe, stepped down from that position this year after his trip to the Super Bowl in Miami, his last official engagement for the NFL Europe and ironically he photographed the Chicago bears again in what was another wet and cold night, this time though it was in Florida!!!The Indianapolis Colts went on to beat Chicago to win the 2007 Super Bowl XLI in Miami.Quoting to much pressure and travel, well after 23 years of American football in and out of Europe and the USA, including 13 World Bowls and 6 Super Bowls, he thought he was getting a little long in the tooth for the amount of physical work required to cover the sport!However, just when he thought it was safe to step down after all those years of American Football the NFL are returning in full force to England! Yes they are making come back! The NFL are changing their focus in Europe, rather than have a minor spring league in Germany, they want to create more of a global impact by bringing the game out of the USA with a regular season one to England! After an absence of many years they are returning to London, this time not to show an exhibition game but a season game for real! The new international series will launch on Sunday, October 28 when the Miami Dolphins host the New York Giants at Londons Wembley Stadium, in all it's glory and razzmatazz! Wayne's contract as the exclusive league photographer for NFL Europe came to an end early this year, and though it was sad in a way, it tied him down to long periods, he was getting to the point of travelling for 6 months of the year, he said “I know it sounds glamourous but it was hard work under pressure to always have every picture, and I mean every picture requested!”Could he be tempted back to cover this game? “Well maybe, it's a tough game, to cover it properly you are running all over the place, fully loaded with heavy equipment for a three hour game! Add an hour before and one after and you have 5 hours of none stop photography!” He is convinced his talent would now be better spent passing on to the countrys younger sports photographers of tomorrow! And that's what he hopes to do, take note Media Colleges.After 25 years as a freelance photographer, 21 of those covering the NFL and NFL Europe, Wayne had some great photo opportunities, and has taken numerous pictures of American football stars like Peyton Manning, Kurt Warner and Brad Johnson, “Hall of Famers” like Dan Marino and Joe Montana, then there are the celebrities, like Prince, Sir Paul McCartney, Beyonce and Aerosmith, plus two American Presidents and the Queen of England in the mix, There is only a small proportion of thes pics on his must see web site at www.waynepaulo.comThe next Super Bowl is in Arizona at the end of January 2008, so he is also considering that! Meanwhile, Wayne is introducing, Enrichment Talks, and Guest Speaking on photography to his portfolio, literally going on tour passing on his knowledge, hints and tips to everyone who wants to know, not surprisingly, he is a natural for lectures and talks with over 25 years experience in photography alone! No sooner had he announced his guest lecturing, Royal Caribbean International wanted him for a series of cruises speaking on their Enrichment programme. He completed his first cruise out of Tampa, Florida in the spring to rave revues from the passengers, his talks on how they could “get better pictures”, enlightened and encouraged everyone, the quality of the work he showed just has to be seen, he has already been invited back to continue with more Cruise lectures around the Mediterranean and the Caribbean!Now he is hoping that he can find a Sponsor and will get more invitations to lecture “closer to home”, to talk and show off his creative audio visual presentations and complete a long life time ambition, a touring Photographic Exhibition of his work!Apparently even the music from his presentations are created by Wayne, a former Cabaret performer with his own recording studio, but that's another story for his talking book! Wayne is already an author of the interactive DVD “Get the Picture ...Travel” and has a dedicated web site for people who just want to learn more about photography free, aptly entitled “GetBetterPictures.com” look out for the Chief!
